JD Vance announces new health care concept of a plan: remove protection for pre-existing conditions

Update: Vance went into even more detail on health care in NC today and again talked about separating people with chronic conditions into separate insurance pools — a major change from the ACA's approach to pre-existing conditions.

Relevant portion: "We're going to actually implement some regulatory reform in the health care system that allows people to choose a healthcare plan that works for them. If you only go to the doctor once a year, you're going to need a different health care plan than somebody who goes to the doctor fourteen times a year because they've got chronic pain or they've got some other chronic condition.

That's the biggest and most important thing that we have to change. Now, what that will also do is allow people with similar health situations to be in the same risk pools, so that makes our health care system work better, makes it work better for the people with chronic issues, it also makes it work better for everybody else."

Sounds like a great idea if your objective is to make health care unaffordable for sick people.

This will go really well with the other plan to block negotiation of lower prices of prescription drugs.

It will also go really well with the other plans to make food more expensive by taxing food imports, in order to make foods like bananas, fish, avocados, and all sorts of other commonly imported foods more expensive:

Across the board, Trump/Vance are running on a platform of raising costs for the middle class.

The further we can push government OUT of health care, the better our chances are of not "dying suddenly."

I'm beginning to wonder if Vance was picked because he's the only person on the planet who can make tRump seem slightly lees fucked up.

If you do get sick, die what now?

I want neither. My private garbage collector has done a great job at a fair price. Good for them. They just sold out and wished us luck with the new owners..? Life's a crapshoot.

I want a significant portion of my taxes paying directly for the provision of decent minimal health care for all. No private insurance involved. We've never needed private insurance to have decent road maintenance. Police. Fire. Schools. Mail. Church services. Our military.

Modern insurance exists solely to benefit the rich who obviously need none. My parents never had to worry about selling their house just to pay for an ambulance ride. Not until they were damn near dead and unconscious at least. Taxes and government workers handle that kind of thing much better. Middlemen and profits need not apply.
