James O’Keefe’s OMG catches grooming teacher

The cost of that would be huge

I don’t need any cameras to exonerate me, my students test scores prove they learned

There is Zero indoctrination happening in my classroom regardless of the personal HATE and LIES spread by Concerned American and marvin martian and Lockback

Concerned American can’t go a single post without attacking me and my career.
This ^^^^ appears to be his only Joy in life, sadly.
What is your fear of cameras, Winnie? You protest too much. BTW, Topic! It isn't other members of the board or your obvious ego insecurity. Reported.

How about we just let the students use their phones to record the classroom?

Designate 4-5 students to place their camera phones on the perimeter of the classroom covering every possible angle, and if something happens then one of the 4-5 phones would certainly capture the nefarious event or the great teaching

Win-Win
The students won’t be handle their phones as they would be placed on the perimeter and the COST to the schools would be Zero.

So you skipped over the post above.
Why? Ruined your narrative?

Still trying to avoid being held accountable. Cameras should be in EVERY classroom simply for people like you who are opposed to them. Students in many jurisdictions are not allowed to have phones in school. LOL, kind of ruins your narrative, eh? BTW, filming a classroom is not the student's responsibility. Why are you so opposed to parents knowing how you conduct your classroom? What is happening in there that you are hiding?

Nice try TWUNT.

I have no problem, it's the parents that would object.
You know, "You have no right to film my lil' CandyAss child."

The students wouldn't be actively filming, it would be a case of just using their phones that are already available and free. What is your problem with this?

The students wouldn't be actively filming
Seems you said 'students would place cameras' in 4-5 places. That is active, Winnie. It is also not THEIR responsibility. It has recently become very clear that teachers are not to be trusted any more than any other public servant. Try again and please try to grow up and address the topic without the childish use of your attempts to circumvent board rules.

Thoughts Concerned American Lockback marvin martian
Thats no good because the students are not consistent or reliable

A camera in the classroom will record all the action for parents to see in real time

In addition to recent bans on cell phone usage in schools. It is the school's responsibility to ensure that the students are safe in the classroom and any employee that is opposed to being held accountable is questionable.

OK, great.
Get your congress members to propose a bill.

I'm not objecting to cameras in the classroom, but plenty of people will object, especially the troubled Childs parents who don't want to expose the deviant behavior that their child possesses.

So, bring it on.
Good Luck.
Then don't whine about the added cost, when I provided a perfect FREE camera system, that YOU rejected.

Why do you suggest that students are "Not consistent or reliable" when they aren't doing the filming, it would just be using their cameras.

A camera is a camera....right.

I’m glad that we can agree

But the teachers union is strongly opposed

They may begin recording half way through an incident or later or edit the video

We often see 10-second video’s that are out of context to what happened

I'm not objecting to cameras in the classroom
Your posts clearly show that to be untrue.

What you proposed is not free, Winnie. You've just passed the cost onto a couple of families--many times in violation of recent bans on cell phone usage. Apparently you feel rules are meant to be broken, eh?

That's what I said.
Many people will object.

So good luck.

When a student teacher needs to be filmed for his/her administrative supervisor, a note needs to be sent him in advance with parent permission to have the classroom/teacher filmed. Any student/parent that objects will be placed in the classroom outside of the filmed area.
Seem effective right?
Same thing will happen if you put cameras in the classroom.

But go ahead, get your congress member to present a bill, that will NEVER pass, and will just waste time and money.
You have my support.

We have been advocating it for years

And will continue to do so

Or should we give up and never mention it?

The student takes their phone, places it on the perimeter of the classroom, starts recording the entire class period. The phone is NOT in their hand. It's NOT a distraction and it requires no physical activity by the student.
What part of this is hard to understand?
If the school has a cell phone ban, the student still has their phone in their possession.
Yes, details would need to be agreed upon, but a camera is a camera.
Your posts clearly show that to be untrue.

I'll try to type slower for you.

A cell phone ban doesn't mean that students leave their phones at home.
The student typically STILL has possession of their phone, it's just asked to be put in their backpack.

If they volunteer their phone for filming that day (one of 4 or 5 or whatever number you desire), they aren't 'using their phone' they are providing a free camera service.
A camera is a camera, what is your objection?

There is no "Passing the cost" onto a couple of families.
What is this imaginary cost you speak of?

We have been advocating it for years

Why do you keep suggesting that I am opposed to 'Cameras in the Classroom'
Mention it ad nauseam.....contact your congress member and the local school boards.
I encourage you to do it.
Please do.

How did that phone get placed? That's activity, regardless of whether or not you want anyone to recognize it. It also requires a purchase by an individual for the collectives' use.
If the school has a cell phone ban, the student still has their phone in their possession.
Bbbbut, Bbbbbut, Bbbbbut--try again. The phone is BANNED. To quote your post, "What part of this is hard to understand?"

Slowly, for your limited ability---How can the cell phone film if it is in the backpack? How can the phone be "placed around the room" if it is in the backpack?
There is no "Passing the cost" onto a couple of families.

What universe do you live in where cell phones are free. When did a few families become responsible for providing security for an entire classroom---that is the schools' responsibility. SMH.
