I never knew that. I just watched a 1990 Hallmark Hall of Fame television film with my wife. "Decoration Day," starring James Garner and Laurence Fishburne, was about a black WW2 veteran who refuses to accept a Congressional Medal of Honor. I've always liked the roles Garner played, but his personal life was nothing like you would imagine. Garner was a lifelong Democrat who was once quoted as saying Ronald Reagan "never had an original thought and that we had to tell him what to say. That’s no way to run a union, let along a state or a country.”

Democrats certainly were a different species back in the day, weren't they?
