Jackson Mississippi is in a crisis. They have no water for drinking, washing or toilets

”The water system has been troubled for years and the city already was under a boil-water notice since late July.”

EVERY Mississippi Congress member and Senator voted against the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Bill. A Bill that provides funding to upgrade water systems

Mississippi is one of our poorest states with crumbling infrastructure
Yet their Congressmen turned their back on struggling citizens and voted against public infrastructure investment

If we teleport to 1985 and ask this question it would be relevant to the situation at hand now.

not the feds job to provide water resources for any city,,,

What is in the bill

TITLE I--DRINKING WATER

This title authorizes a variety of programs within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that support drinking water infrastructure.

Specifically, the title reauthorizes through FY2026 and revises the drinking water state revolving fund program, which provides financial assistance to states and water systems for infrastructure projects. In addition, it reauthorizes through FY2026 existing programs and establishes new programs to support drinking water infrastructure, including programs that

  • address emergencies (e.g., cybersecurity events) affecting drinking water systems;
  • protect sources of water (e.g., rivers, lakes, and groundwater);
  • assist the public water systems of small and disadvantaged communities;
  • assist low-income households located in rural areas to maintain access to drinking water and wastewater treatment;
  • reduce lead contamination in drinking water; and
  • support drinking water and sanitation projects on Indian reservations.

NOTE: EVERY Mississippi Congress member voted against this bill

Already a thread on it

it was and is the responsibility of the CITY Government to handle manage and control their water facilities.

Poor cities and states like Mississippi have little money to invest in large infrastructure projects.
That is why Jackson let it go so long without repairs and upgrades

The $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill provides funding for these type of drinking water infrastructure upgrades

LOL so you admit that decades of neglect lead to this and then claim somehow it is the Federal Governments job to fix it.

Mississippi's second congressional district, a shithole which includes Jackson is very liberal, democrat and the congressman is black.

They did not vote against infrastructure, they voted against all the Democrat added pork that would have come with it.

Yet you can’t identify any actual pork in that bill

Clearly a thread worth reading for those Republicans who vote by rote.

Long term Republicans who are conservative need to look at the many catastrophes that the people suffer. Local and State Governments are already out of money with their own budgets and need federal monies to fix what is broken or disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes.

Yes
That is why we are THE UNITED STATES and help those states that need it

Mississippi is our poorest states and has long depended on Federal Funding

The Infrastructure in Bidens bill would not have only helped Jackson’s water system as well as roads, bridges, power grid, internet throughout Mississippi

Yet, Mississippi’s Republican representatives voted against it
