I always think it is a shame, if a pipe bomber (with or without detonations), or any other violent criminal is taken alive, not resisting. I would prefer they resisted, and were put down, on the spot, but without harm to arresting officers, though I know, taking a violent criminal off the street is a dangerous proposition.
