My dad did two Vietnam tours. I was planning to go but the war ended before I graduated HS in '74.

The law recognizes that the complete elimination of any given genotype is not necessary for the crime of genocide. Is recognition of that distinction above your pay grade?

In order to answer that , I need you to first define what winning would look like. Keep in mind Trumps initial reasons for starting the war: Liberate the Iranian people. stop Iran from developing a nuke, Regime change.
None of that is realistically going to happen without a prolonged ground war and even then it's doubtful. Think Afganistan. What is realistic is to get back to where we were when Obama secured ti nuke deal that Trump tore up , and contain Iran.

Face the facts .Obama's deal was about as good as it is gonna get and Trump is not even going to get that. Previously , Iran was somewhat open to abandoning their quest for a nuke weapon Not so now. Therefore the US has lost already and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Besides blowing the deal that would keep them from getting a nuke, we have squandered billions of $ and considerable human life, as well as diminishing our standing in the world and emboldening a more millitant Iran .
So what do you propose??

At the beginning of the conflict with Iran, I filled out the White Houses' Contact section and said it quite plainly. The nation is run by devout religious fanatics. Religious will NEVER compromise their beliefs. In this case, world domination by any and all means necessary. They will all die fighting rather than surrender. Add to this, China relies on their oil and both China and Russia supply them with munitions. So, no compromise and instead, get those opposed to the theocratic rule of the Ayatollahs and the IRGC to leave Tehran, then hit Tehran with a Neutron Bomb or Hydrogen Bomb. At the very least as the thousands come out to mourn ad the funerals of their dead "martyrs." Drop some tactical nukes on them. That will reduce large numbers of their supporters.
