It's the conquest of Granada a true story?

Washington Irving wrote a book called the conquest of grenada. I read a big portion of the book already but I am still wondering if it is based on fact. Many of the places and people that he mentions in the book are real but some of them are hard to find validity on. I wonder if it is based on a true story or if it's near 100% factual, but romanticized. I have started a YouTube channel called obman history project, which I am going to talk about American history, but first I have to start off with Columbus, and I want to learn about Spain and the sociological analysis of the people before the conquest of America. But I don't want to give a historical YouTube channel based on fictitious books.
