It's Spilling Over Into Our 1st Amendment.

Regulate as in giving everyone equal access. Right now our media is like the Democrats ministry of information. It's 90% Nazi. Sorry if you can't comprehend ideas, or maybe you're just a bigot
You think you have a right to be on CNN?

Our current political state in our USA reminds me somewhat of the WW2 time table. Starts off small with Germany invading Poland on 09/01/39 which starts another European conflict, which then spreads into Russia on 06/22/41. Less than six months later on 12/07/41 the European conflict goes global. What started on the western plains of Poland in 1939 ends up coming to a close half way across the world in Japan on 08/15/45. I used the dates to illustrate a word called 'incrementalism' for it so richly illustrates the current political state of affairs in our America. Power play politick'n in our USA starts out the same as anywhere else on the globe with bickering, insults & snipping turning into push comes shove. When the constituencies federal Constitution(fabric of the society) becomes ensnared into the contest of wills the contest turns into a "no holds barred" contest. Like a pyromaniac playing in a fuel dump this one outta give ALL of us a show to remember!

Did you complain when that little shit from the Xian school was suing over his smirking pic in Newspapers?

This has been coming for a decade. Ever since the rise of the Tea Party and then alt-right Internet media. Again, I hate to point this out. But that 1st Amendment is not a blanket protection to say or do whatever you want without fear of repercussion. There are limits to free speech. To be honest, it's about time this section of media was reeled in. It's been allowed to fester and metastasize because they spout lies and disinformation and then run for cover behind that 1st Amendment hoping that people won't come after them out of it being a PIA and not wanting to give them any attention. But over the last few years, right wing media has become an absolute cancer. You can't really call it "conservative" anymore. It all (for the most part) became alt-right, ending up a sludge pit of a conspiracy theory laden mass of built up white grievance. Then, you get what we got on January 6th. For two months, Trump's team was allowed to wander around to battleground states holding pressers next to porn shops and in hotel conference blaring that the election was stolen and the companies who made these voting machines were putting out equipment that was designed to steal votes from the almighty Trump. Didn't seem to affect any other down ballot Republicans but hey, it's all for Trump. Because we need him..to continue to contribute to the mess that our political state has become. So, these companies clapped back...and these lawsuits...have teeth. Sorry, I can't get all weepy for right wing media here. They brought this on themselves. BTW, I don't see anyone going after the National Review, the WSJ, or a bunch of the other conservative publications that have been around for years..and are smart enough not to have got caught up in the disinformation madness.
I disagree. I think spouting lies is protected under the first ammendment, it's up to the individual to research those statements and either believe or not believe them. Saying lies is not protected speech is dangerous because, who decides what is lies and what isn't?

Just because someone is offended by something doesn't give the offendee the right to ostracize them from society. The whole point of freedom of speech is to protect speech that isn't popular. If 1A only pertained to agreeable speech, then there would be no reason for it to exist.

You say right wing media is to blame, I say, not so fast. ALL media is to blame, even the left. You can't have media demonizing all conservatives for years, using blanket statements like "all conservatives are racist" or "if you support trump, then you are racist, misogynist, etc.", and then claim its only right wing media.

Left wing media has spent the last 4 years painting anyone on the right as the enemy, and helping to create the division we see today.

Both sides share the blame.

There can never have free speech without an impartial media. We will never have free speech again as long as there are companies like CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, Twitter, Google, and Facebook controlling all the information and opinions. Either regulate or break up those companies or lose the foundation of our country. All opinions, like all people are equal.

Funny that you don't mention Fox as one of the companies that control information and opinions. Freedom of the press means they are free to be partial. When mass nationwide radio networks arrived on the scene law makers realized the dangers in one political perspective being broadcast 24/7 presented to the freedom of speech, and they passed the first of the 'Fairness Doctrines". That all ended in 87 because the three big networks no longer had a hold of the only media that had a nationwide audience. Our choices for information have only grown since then. However opinion disguised as news is a fact killer. So you have to be discerning in what is opinion and what is fact regardless of the source.

Yep. We can never have free speech unless we use the government to regular the speech of media companies I don’t like.

Jesus. Talk about doublespeak.

Even under the strictest use of the 'Fairness Doctrines' they never require equal access, only a chance to express an opposing political view to a view or opinion that was previously aired. But that was only because the choices for information were so limited back then. We are so diverse now that a new fairness doctrine would be impossible to enforce in a free society.

The problem is the BOSS(corporate board/CEO) controls both the 'twist' & intent that the news anchors are allowed to present. Therefore we need MANY media outlets that cover the spectrum of political/religious ideology to include Stalin's communalism, Hamilton's federalism, Chomsky's social libertarianism, King George III's Monarchy, Hitler's national socialism, Madison's democratic-republicans, Nozick's American Libertarianism & FDR's social liberalism. Heck make the list complete & add in Charles Charlie Manson's anarchy & we got a political ideology for everyone to listen to & believe in like EVERYONES HAPPY!!! My pick is below but unfortunately I fall into the least popular political ideology in America with just barely three million fellow believers in the ideology.
