It's OK To Betray The Kurds Because They Didn't Help Us With Normandy

And as somebody wrote in a very, very powerful article today, they didn’t help us in the Second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy, as an example. They mentioned names of different battles. But they’re there to help us with their land. And that’s a different thing. In addition to that we have spent tremendous amounts of money on helping the Kurds in terms of ammunition, in terms of weapons, in terms of money, in terms of pay.”

Trump: It's okay to betray the Kurds because 'they didn't help us with Normandy'

Yeah

Soo....we should start bombing a NATO member?

The real crazy part is that such an insane statement by the prez barley gets any attention because it’s constant nuttiness with him.
Kurds?

Normandy?

WTF is wrong with this nutjob

The reality is that the Kurds were never our allies, and we used the CIA to help capture and turn Ocalan over to Turkey.

The reality is that our forces in Syria were never protecting Kurds, but by attacking Assad's forces, were defending ISIS and al Qaeda.
Assad never attacked the Kurds.

WTF?

Are you getting paid directly by the Kremlin?

The Kurds were never our allies? The hell they weren't

They were the ground troops that destroyed the ISIS caliphate

TURKEY CHAOS: THE MESS TRUMP MADE

Trump is a foreign policy disaster.

So if President Trump bombed and invaded a NATO member country, that would be good foreign policy?
If he hadn't pulled our people out...Turkey would not have invaded.

If they had dared to attack areas where we DID have troops we'd have blasted em

So we’re supposed to use our soldiers as human shields, against our own NATO “ally”?

I love watching all you leftists do backflips and now claim we need to stay involved in ME wars. Trump has you clowns completely wrapped around his finger and it's hilarious.

What does the OP want to do?....step in the middle of their conflict?...are you sure you aren't a Bush?....
So if this was the right move all along, why didn’t you dumbasses throw a fit when Trump didn’t do this in year one? Obviously it’s because you suck this orange moron’s dick regardless of what he says or does.

I bet you that both trump and his minions dont know where Normandy is, what happened there, who the Kurds are...America is lead by the dumbest people on earth right now.

Get real. Under no circumstance are/were we going to engage in a military conflict against Turkey. This whole "faux outrage" is simply asinine and disingenuous.

Yeah

Most people in the Kurdish areas of Syria in the 1940s were just trying to survive. Most of them were illiterate, living in the desert with no plumbing, electricity, let alone news of the outside world. Few if any of them knew that there was a war in Europe, let alone what it was about and who they should support.

Plus, whether or not you supported the United States in World War II or were at Normandy is not at all how we make foreign policy decisions in the year 2019. I mean, we have been working with Germany and defending Germany for nearly 75 years now. Germany is a NATO ally. But they were the actual enemy in World War II and fighting against us in Normandy.

Trump is so ignorant of history and foreign policy. You would think after 3 years of being President he would finally understand some of these things a little better, but he does not seem to.

There was NO conflict until we left. Our presence alone deterred invasion.

Hogwash. We had a total of 1,000 troops there, mostly isolated near the border. The presence of ground troops (especially in such a small number) is nowhere near the deterrent against military action as our naval warships in the Persian Gulf that are capable of delivering a battery of Cruise missiles at the push of a button.

By your logic, we would need to keep troops deployed around the world in hostile regions at all times to deter invasions. The Romans used to do that (send sentries as permanent attachés in friendly nations to deter invasions) but they didn't have Cruise missiles, or a modern Navy and Air Force capable of hitting strategic targets around the globe at a moment's notice.

The need for us to pull our troops from Syria does not excuse the stupidity of Trump's statement. I am pretty sure that Japan and Germany did not help us with Normandy yet they are now two of our closest allies.

The troops in Syria moved. The Naval Warships and Cruise Missiles in the Persian Gulf did NOT. So what stopped the Turks from invading Syria before? It was the Troops, not the aircraft or cruise missiles. They did not want to risk killing or injuring U.S. troops.
