It's Happening!

President Trump signed an executive order late Thursday to end public funding of National Public Radio and PBS to stop what he called "biased and partisan news coverage."

The order directed the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to "cease federal funding for NPR and PBS" to the extent allowed by law. The order could be challenged in court.

Imagine that, more taxpayer money saved.

About time.

Let them sink or swim on their own. American TAXPAYERS have a multitude of choices throughout the airwaves, and NPR/PBS is an unnecessary government entity.
Let them compete with other broadcasters like all broadcasters must do, and let them do it on their own dime.

I hope it holds up. He was wise to add the 'to the extent allowed by law.' The Congress could shore that up by eliminating that funding from the budget they are currently working on. Or passing a resolution to not fund ANY media which should be the law of the land.

There is no way that federal funding of the media cannot encourage corruption.

But ending funding for the totally biased NPR and PBS is long overdue. They will still continue to receive funding from lefty donators and probably any serious programming--they do provide some serious programming--will continue. But if they can't make it without the small percentage (about 1% for NPR budget, about 15% for PBS budget) of federal funding they receive, then oh well. Bye bye. I will miss some of PBS's special programs but again, oh well. Not that big a deal.

President Trump is stripping funding for Corporation for Public Broadcastings National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting System (PBS).

These outlets have proven they can generate revenue and funding without the US Taxpayer’s funds. I believe these brands will continue to thrive and have more autonomy without direct government funding and oversight.

I'm fine with federal funding for PBS as long as they stay in their lane. Produce educational children's content and no political undertones.

NPR, on the other hand, I'm not sure why we were ever funding them in the first place.

I doubt NPR will be highly affected.
"While federal money is important to the overall public media system, NPR gets less than 1% of its annual budget, on average, from federal sources,” NPR said on its website" It looks like Trump is stuck with accurate, reasoned nongovernment controlled radio. Tough sh#t for Trump.

Yet more evidence that they don't need taxpayer money.

Perfect!

Yep, who the heck needs accurate, reasoned radio...LOL.

They probably don't need it, at this point. They are largely funded by businesses and interested private donors, such as myself, that see a benefit from their service. I proudly support WKNO, 91.1, public radio for the Mid-South, on a regular basis. Not much Trump can do about people like me. Fck him.:auiqs.jpg:

Why would Trump want to harm you? You like their product, so you support them.

As it should be.

I didn't know that Don 2 Dolls knew anything about curtains, much less iron ones.
