To be clear I do not underestimate the ability of the Democrat Party of Texas to put up the gold standard of loser candidates. Republicans are pretty good at it too. I could be very wrong in who wins the primary. My personal fear is we will see a Crockett vs. Paxton race.

But this will not be a normal year.
Between Trumpflation and what Republicans are about to do to healthcare premiums plus massive job losses and unemployment under Republican rule, MAGAt voters are likely to sit this election out in droves.
Moderate Republicans and minority voters are also jumping off the Trump train and leaning more Democrat in their preferences. That close race in Tennessee that just occurred should be all you need to see to clue you in that nothing can be taken for granted next November.
