George W. Bush proposed amnesty followed by strict enforcement. Everyone here, could stay, if they paid an outrageous fine, and then no one else would be allowed to get the same benefit in the future. The answer was a ton of bricks sent to Congress. Literally people sent bricks to Congress.
Now, calling the DACA folks Citizens is a bit of a stretch. DACA is about delayed enforcement. The idea is that people who have been here for years, who were brought as children, would be granted amnesty to apply for citizenship. You see, there are two ways to become citizens. Be born here, or be born abroad to American Parents, or become naturalized citizens.
Walls don’t work is the funniest one of all. If walls and fences don’t work, why do we spend so much of the Federal Budget on them? For years the White House Fence was considered too low and finally they’re going to make it bigger.

Yet, somehow we’re supposed to believe that fences around everything and everyone that is in Washington, only works there. It won’t work. Well in a way you are right. It doesn’t work unless someone is there to catch those coming over. Prisons have walls, Camp David has fences, and the military spends millions on rapidly erecting fences and walls. Yet somehow the walls don’t work. Well, why do they build them?
The Berlin Wall worked. Because it was backed up by guards. But the wall on the border is different. Unlike Berlin, it isn’t intended to keep people in, but keep them from entering illegally.
I was a Combat Engineer in the Army, and I was taught the value of obstacles. No obstacle is ever intended to stop an attack, but it is designed to delay, or deter, an enemy. Forcing them to go where our defenses are strongest. Slowing the access to allow forces to bring them under direct fire, or indirect fire. I’ve worked with Barbed wire, Concertina Wire, and Razor Tape. Razor Tape is the worst. It is so sharp that once you put it out, you can’t pick it up again. It will slice through the gloves. When you want to take that fence down, you have to dig a hole, and bulldoze it into the hole.
To do what it is designed to, a wall must delay, or deter someone seeking to pass the wall. Allowing people to come and stop them.
Walls work when they are backed up by people, which is why the Berlin Wall was so effective. But you know this, or you should. If not then the level of ignorance is astonishing.
