It feels like a bit of a cliche to say this but.........

No a budget implies planning,
Yes it does.
They never expect the train derailment, that occur on their train route but.........it always does.
Riders and amendments.
this is duct taping an aircraft engine and hoping it hold on.
Yeah, we are witnessing that now.

Compromise to a Dem means "give us everything we want or else"
It really doesn't. Congress negotiated the spending bill with compromises. It was set to pass.

Trump and Musk blew it up and basically said "give us everything we want or else".

No, they said "try again" because they are the ones who will have to deal with it in a month.

Will they even try to get Biden out of his torpor to sign it?

They said to extend the debt ceiling for 2 years and eliminate the compromises that Republicans had negotiated.

Then they blamed the Dems for not voting for it.

You guys are suckers.

After Musk decided there would be no passage of the bipartisan bill Johnson made a statement reminding MAGAists that compromise is essential in divided government. As we learned from trump 1.0 that's not how the Orange Dotard rolls. He doesn't recognize the wishes of the half of the country that opposes him should be respected. It will be his downfall.

Furloughed federal employees for the most part will not “stop going to work” because they already don’t “go to work.”

Absolute worst case scenario is that a paycheck will be delayed for a month for some federal employees. If they know they’re working for the government, they should know that they are not essential, so they should’ve planned for this. God knows salaries are high enough for them to save a little money aside.
learn to code!

The dems would rather have their pork than vote on a slimmed down continuing resolution.

You talk about a government shutdown like it's a bad thing.

........we are already being reminded of Repub's inability to do basic governance.

Basic governance---- passing another bloated, pork-laden bill full of crap democrats want running the debt up even higher. :auiqs.jpg:

The good news: when the government shuts down due to inflexibility of democrats,

NONE OF THEM WILL COLLECT PAYCHECKS. :auiqs.jpg:

Republicans shouldn’t negotiate in bad faith.

If a government shutdown isn’t such a bad thing, why are the Republicans trying to blame Dems?

Those items can be debated as stand alone funding. All the continuing resolution should do is fund baseline government

If a government shutdown isn’t such a bad thing, why are the Republicans trying to blame Dems?

Because the dems claim it will be the end of the world and blame republicans?

If it's that bad, why don't they just sign off on the slimmed down continuing resolution and debate the other programs during the next 3 months?
