Negotiations between the Israel Medical Association (IMA) and the Finance and Health Ministries, in an attempt to avert a strike in hospitals, ended overnight Wednesday without the sides being able to reach an agreement.

Following the failure of the talks, doctors in hospitals across the country will begin a strike on Thursday morning.

The strike will include public, geriatric, psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals, which will work on a Shabbat and holidays schedule.

The strike is over doctors' claims of a shortage of budgets to shorten long waiting times and over their rejection of a clause in the Arrangements Law preventing doctors from public hospitals to operate in private clinics.
