JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel said on Thursday it would press ahead with plans to build in existing Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in an apparent bid to appease hardliners opposed to peace talks with the Palestinians.

Local media said new building tenders could be announced next week, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in particular seeks to douse opposition from right-wingers in his government to a planned release of Palestinian prisoners.

"In accordance with understandings reached on the eve of the restart of peace talks with the Palestinians, in the coming months Israel will continue to announce it will build in settlement blocs and in Jerusalem," part of the statement by the unnamed official said.

"Both the Americans and the Palestinians have been aware of these understandings," the statement added.

There was no immediate comment from either of those parties.

Israel does all it can to destroy any chance of peace, knowing full well, the Palestinians will be pissed off at this.
However, Israel has the press on its side so all this will be ignored when the talks fail and Israel will tell the world how Palestinians don't want to talk peace.

Easy really, the extremist, Zionist elements in Israel are calling the shots and will do so as long as American taxpayers allow their national debt to climb whilst Israel, one of the better off countries in the world with a strong economy, sponges off you.

I'm not an expert in the Koran, but I don't think it says the Jews should face Jerusalem, because it never mentions Jerusalem at all.

That is technically true. It says Jews should face their Holy Land and Muslims theirs. It was another way Mohammad confirmed that Israel is the Jewish holy land.

The Jews were a side casualty in this ongoing back and forth to purge Europe and Christianity from the Muslim invaders. So naturally they took refuge in Muslim lands, as second class Dhimmi citizens living under Islamic Shariah apartheid.
