Israel confirms Gaza ceasefire
The truce comes into effect at 11:30pm local time
Israel has announced a ceasefire between its forces and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), due to take effect at 11:30pm local time. The agreement ends three days of tit-for-tat airstrikes and rocket attacks, which left the leadership of the PIJ decimated and dozens of Palestinians dead.
In an official statement, the Jewish state’s Public Diplomacy Directorate said that it would halt its air campaign on Gaza, but would strike back “forcefully” if the truce is broken.
“We will not allow any party to disturb the daily lives of residents in Israel,” the statement read.
The confirmation came shortly after the PIJ said that it had agreed to the deal, which was negotiated by Egyptian mediators.
Prior to the announcement, the PIJ launched salvos of rockets into Israel, of which 96% were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said. Israel targeted PIJ launch sites and observation posts with airstrikes, as it has done since the beginning of Operation Breaking Dawn on Friday.

IDF publishes video of alleged deadly rocket misfire in Gaza
The military operation began with an airstrike on an apartment block in Gaza that killed senior PIJ commander Taysir al-Jabari. Other strikes targeted the group’s observation posts, warehouses, and launch sites, while another senior PIJ commander was killed by an airstrike on Saturday night, the IDF stated on Sunday.
Palestinian officials say that at least 41 people have been killed in Gaza since Friday – among them six children – while more than 265 have been wounded. Israel has denied responsibility for at least nine of these deaths, which the IDF blamed on a Palestinian rocket that fell short after launch.
The announcement on Friday came after Prime Minister Yair Lapid reportedly claimed that the IDF had accomplished all of its objectives in Gaza, making the continuation of Operation Breaking Dawn pointless.

i've read the headlines about the Palestinians and the Israelis starting a truce, and talks at the political level.

this is great news of course.
success will lie in keeping one's own troops patient enough for the negotiations to bear fruit, and the negotiations both hard and fluid enough for real progress to be made.

think of it like a cascading waterfall, that 2 flocks of strong fish have to swim upward in, towards a lake full of food (housing & farm land).

the Palestinians should receive help (from the entire world) in getting enough sea water converted into fresh water to make their new lands farmable and pleasant to live in.

good luck!

The Palestinians could turn Gaza into a world renowned vacation paradise if they simply stopped killing Jews in Israel, shook hands and moved forward coexisting. Foreign investment would transform that territory within months. Their plight is self-inflicted by the thugs who hold them down with generational hate.

Israel should keep going.

We've seen cease-fires over the past 60 years. They mean nothing.

Drive the Palestinians entirely out of the Middle East, or at least into northern Syria with a warning to Syria to keep them away from the Israeli border or face a full-out war that will end in their annexation to the Jewish Homeland.

How much did they spend on rockets fired at Israel?

More than enough to process sea water I’m sure
