The terrorist group became target of the Syrian airforce not long after their assaults began.
"The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a powerful assault at the Lebanese-Syrian border on Monday, targeting Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the Al-Qusayr border-crossing from their positions inside the Hermal Municipality of the Tripoli Governorate in northern Lebanon.
ISIS began their assault at the Jaroud Qa’a area of the Ba’albak Governorate, where they would attack a number of Hezbollah controlled checkpoints near the border of Syria.
Following the assault on Jaroud Qa’a, ISIS stormed the Lebanese Resistance’s defensive positions at the towns of Ma’br Jawsiyah and Jaroud Na’mat, where they found some success before the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) entered the battle to succor the ground forces.
The Syrian Arab Army’s 41st Brigade of the Special Forces arrived just in time to combat the terrorist group’s numerous attacks on the Al-Qusayr border-crossing into Syria; these reinforcements would help the Lebanese Resistance push back the encroaching ISIS combatants that were attempting to capture this strategic border-crossing.
Despite claims by ISIS and rebel social media activists, ISIS was unsuccessful in capturing the town of Ma’br Jawsiyah from the Lebanese Resistance; instead, they pulled back after sustaining heavy casualties during their push towards Al-Qusayr.
ISIS attempted to catch the Lebanese Resistance off-guard near Al-Qusayr, as almost 200 of their soldiers are currently besieging the Islamist rebels in the resort-city of Al-Zabadani.
Hezbollah’s next military endeavor will likely be in the Jaroud Qarah area of the Qalamoun Mountains; this is the only territory in the Qalamoun Mountains that is currently under the control of ISIS, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”"
