In an article posted in the terrorist group's English-language online magazine Dabiq (which as can be see below seems to have gotten its design cues straight from Madison Avenue and is just missing glossy pages filled with 'scratch and sniff' perfume ads ) ISIS claimed that it has enough money to buy a nuclear weapon from Pakistan and "carry out an attack inside the United States next year."

In the article, the ISIS columnist said the weapon could be smuggled into the United States via its southern border with Mexico.

Curiously, the author of the piece is John Cantlie, a British photojournalist who was abducted by ISIS in 2012 and has been held hostage by the organization ever since; he has appeared in several videos since his kidnapping and criticized Western powers.

I have known lots of Pakistanis well------my sense is that those
running the nuclear bomb program there and those guarding
DA BOMBS is not nuts. Also------I do not think that dropping a nuke-------is all that simple-------the concept of carrying one over
the Mexican border and lugging it around -----loading it on a plane and then dropping it, seems complex. HOWEVER I do believe that ISIS terrorists would be capable of getting their paws on some sort of "dirty bomb"------some exploding device that contains dangerous radioactive material------that can put a whole
city into trouble--------I am quite sure that homeland security people are not thinking "IF" but more like "when" and "where" I do not foresee an HIROSHIMA------more like an attack on a crowded area in one of the major cities of the USA. It is because of the dangers of using nuclear materials in terrorist acts that smart people like me object to the Iranians having
the stuff-------but then again Iranians hate Pakistanis------
maybe they can be induced to use the stuff against each other

I don't really see ISIL getting a hold of a nuke, nor do I see them being able to do anything other than put it in a truck and drive it to wherever they were going to attack. I don't think they have the complexity, technology, or even basic understanding of how aerial delivery of weapons works, because trust me, it's not as easy as you may think. I was stationed with VFA-131 Wildcats from 1987 until 1992, and learned quite a bit about how things are done.

And.....................if all they can do is get a nuke from Pakistan, well, they're going to have to figure out how to get it to the US, and probably the only thing they'd be able to do is ship it via sea, and then when it came to this country, ship it via surface roads.

All of which take time, which would make it easier to find and catch them.

I don't see ISIL as much of a major threat. All they can do right now is try to recruit lone wolf terrorists, which have been shown to be ineffective.
