I don't have a link, because the only link I could offer is the pornographic pop-up ad that I have found so offensive that it's almost got me thinking about actually giving YT my money, to get them to remove ads, to get them to stop shoving it in my face.

Basically, it's a possibly attractive woman dressed like a slut, who says "Yesterday, my husband ****ed me for three hours..........".

I see this as just a way for YT to steal my money by demanding that I pay them to remove this filth from my daily life.

How many of us can live our lives without using YT? Everyone I rely on for news is on Rumble. Do they run the same disgusting ads?

Anyone with more tech experience than I, have any advice?

Trolls, you will be reported if you just reply for the purpose of telling me what a prude I am.

Mods, if this is not the proper forum for this, please move it and inform me. To me, this is a current event, as it has happened about a dozen times in two or three days. Thanks

Those are algorithm based adds. They are showing you more of what you have watched previously.

So if you are getting porn pop-ups...

If you answer ads on porno sites, it is only a matter of time before somebody steals your money, but YouTube is not a porno site. Get a grip.

gtopa1 That shit is just how advertising algorithms work. Nothing "fake news" about it.

You are right

In fact, I put "Bill Clinton" in the search engine, and the next thing I know all these porn pop up adds come on offering to cheat on your spouse

Crazy.

Others above have nailed it. You're a pervert and the algorithm is giving you what you want.

Lol, I don't get pornography adds. I would take a look at who is logging on to your stuff. If you aren't searching for porn someone is. I have never even heard of someone receiving porn ads from you tube. Are you even sure it is actually YouTube? Are you getting sent to a spoof site?

I've never accessed pornography on my machine. I'm very anti-porn and have been forever. Nobody has ever used my computer, except possibly my late husband, but he had his own computer.

Ads don't necessarily work according to an algorithm.

And just because the ads being discussed are somewhat pornographic doesn't mean that you have visited porn sites.

What the algorithm has figured out is that is that the person watching/scrolling is male and an approximate age group.

Because men succumb to porn OFTEN.
YouTube has copied TicTok's algorithm sufficiently enough to make their site extremely addictive....
And so...
This particular company does similar to some do and pay YouTube off of clicks and even more off of sales. And since solid, flat rate per posting advertising revenue is down they engage in this type. It doesn't matter how many times they publish this ad....they get paid by clicks and revenue.

So literally EVERY male gets these ads.

You watch NFL highlights? You getting these ads.
You like construction vids? You get these ads.

It's just because of your gender....not because of any other reason.

And it's an extremely predatory thing that Social Media has engaged in. Same dopamine hits that narcotics, nicotine, or other addictive chemicals provide. They are designed to keep you scrolling and to get you engaged with whatever they want you to believe....whether it's truth or not because what they want is your time and money...

Congress could have "fixed" this a decade ago. They abdicated in favor of insider trading of stock options.
Sure, they made great grandstanding speeches on the senate floor but truthfully voted the way Social Media platforms wanted all along.
They wrote legislation to protect the platforms and even when the platforms turned into publishers they continued to protect the indefensible. Because of the continued stock options and sometimes stocks themselves traded with insider information.

So outright porn in your feed even if you don't view it regularly and don't seek it out?
Absolutely....because you are a guy.
And the algorithm has figured out that you are a guy liking the visual stimulation of videos and will likely click on the porn they are pushing....and they get money for it every time you click on it.

I'm a woman.

I look at right-leaning politics and mostly Catholic sites.

The key then must be the Right-leaning sites....Catholic is not relevant. You being a woman is outside the demographic. (It can key off of anything....and I do sincerely apologize for forgetting about you personally....)

Here's something to try:

Every time you see one of these ads. Exit the app completely. Stop watching the videos and find something else to do like an online game or this site that doesn't have ads like that.
And if the predictive algorithm (extremely similar to AI) figures out that you shut down the app every time you see an offensive advertisement....it will stop those ads. (If they actually have them tagged appropriately....sometimes programmers are idiots because sometimes the app programs itself)

It's annoying to be sure. I get it. YouTube has been lousy lately with its predictive programming. I'm not sure if it's my tastes in an extremely WIDE range of types of videos or if it's just stupid lately....but it's been only suggesting only things I last looked at in huge huge blocks of suggestions. The variety has been dumb lately.

Great! Thank you for that advice!

As I stated, all the important news, I can get from Rumble.

Thanks for the apology, but with so many posters, it can be a challenge to always remember.
