It appears he is resisting the pressure to put boots on the ground.

I have been saying since this began that this is a job for the CIA now. Economic pressure will prevail.

Perhaps Trump does not want to miss the meeting in China? I would hope that this is not the reason because he may learn it is not a helpful meeting politically IMO.

Occupying Bandar-e-Abbas, which has port and airbase facilities would be helpful in guarding the Straight of Hormuz and keeping it open allow freedom of transit to friendly nations continues.

Next might be to occupy Kharg Island and cut Iran's petroleum tap and petro-dollar$, stopping most of the funding of the theocracy. Which would speed it's collapse and regime change.

* Most major targets for aerial bombardment have been taken out. Getting down to tactical airstrikes in support of clean-up and/or support for insurgents.
