I'm not one to usually defend Obama, but I actually think it was smart for him not to escalate that situation. Crimea was mostly loyal to Russia, just like much of the Donbas is. It made no sense to try to liberate Crimea, just like it makes little sense to continue the war in Ukraine now. Putin has the parts of Ukraine that he's capable of holding onto because of local support. The rest of Ukraine is basically out of his grasp largely because the locals don't support him. This is why a partition plan is the only rational way forward now.

If 10 million random americans were to suddenly move into another country right now I would guarantee we'd see even more crime than we have from migrants, but just for argument's sake, how much crime has actually been committed by migrants out of 10 million entries? When did trump abandon Ukraine to Putin? As I recall he was the first president to send lethal defensive weapons…you know after Putin took part of the country after the Obama/Xiden admin more flexible policy

In response to a question as to how NATO would respond if Putin invade the Ukraine, Biden said the response would depend on the nature of the incursion. A sane and reasonable response.
