Yes, it is in many places. I grew up with everyone kissing cheeks. I found it odd when people don't.
The very idea that you would even think it "gay" shows out small minded and bigoted you are. There are many ways to greet people and "yea man" or "hey dud" is among the rarest, thankfully. Hand shakes tend to spread germs.
