Is there such a thing as an Independent Federal Agency?

The first case of Trump’s second term reaches the high court

Trump Administration seeks to fire an individual working at an “Independent Federal Agency”

A lower court ruled that, Article II notwithstanding, POTUS does not have the ability to remove someone who works for an imaginary “Independent Federal Agency”

This case is headed to SCOTUS

On what basis do “Independent Federal Agencies” exist in the first place?

Don’t they all fall under Article II?

Are there “Independent Congressional Agencies” or “Independent Judiciary Agencies” that are not under the purview of their respective body?

The ODNI reports to the President and is under the Executive Branch.

I think people are confusing Independent (neither Democrat nor Republican) with independent (stand-alone, not under any of the 3 branches)

The controlling precedent is Humphrey Executor.

Some agencies can be considered executive, such as the DoJ. Other agencies can be considered quasi legislative or quasi judicial, which puts them beyond the reach of exclusive presidential control. My guess is the OSC is quasi judicial based on their adjudication of legal complains.

yes its called a "quasi" independent agency....

A quasi-governmental agency is an organization that has some characteristics of a government agency, but is not fully controlled by the government. It may have some government funding or oversight, but also operates independently.

I heard the US Post office delivers for UPS and Fed Ex. For really remote places. The Post office has to go but they don't so they ship it via the US Post office. That will be gone. This screws Americans in remote places the most. They don't realize it.

Amazon and UPS and Fed-X are 3 of the PO's biggest customers...only the congress can take out the PO not the president...and i can almost guarantee you that 90% of the workers in the PO would love to see many in middle management lose their jobs....they are ones who couldnt carry a route so they went into management and starting fucking everything up when they gave them a little power....you would not belive some of the decisions they make....

Yes I'm sure like a lot of government, it's a big bloated bureaucracy and could be trimmed in the middle. I fear this is just another thing they are going to privatize and then the prices of course will go up. You Republicans call it inflation.

I heard yesterday Trump is thinking about giving us all $5000 with all the savings? Any truth to that? And will that cause inflation? My buddy said some want to put it to the national debt. I want that money to go to social security.
