It all depends. Different people get wealthy different ways.

For example, my elected Troy Balderson was the 3rd generation of a car dealership. He worked as a Mechanic at Balderson Motor Sales, while he was going to college. After that he was general managers, and eventually Vice President of the company. After 2008, when he was elected to office, he left the company.

Then you look at others, like say Joyce Beatty.

So Joyce was part of the Montgomery County Health and Human Services Director, Women's Fund, NAACP, and Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Columbus Urban League Board, has won awards from YWCA Woman of Achievement Award, the Ohio Health Speaking of Women Health Award, NAACP Freedom Award, Woman of Courage Award, and the Urban League Leadership Recognition Award.

So, for Joyce, she has actually never held a single full time, actual job in her life. Not once.

All of her money comes from.... non-profits and public tax money.

It may sound strange, but most of the time, the way they end up rich, is by funneling money through programs and giving it to each other.

That's why there are dozens of awards that left-wing groups give each other.

There is no "Worked hard, while paying your way through college, by working as a mechanic" Award for people like Troy Balderson.

Instead you get the "Woman of Courage Award"... not courage enough to work a job, and earn your existence, but courage... to be courageous Award.

Didn't mention Democrat or Republican there, but I betcha you can figure it out.
