Is there an efficient and safe way the Iranian people can be armed? Should they be armed?

The only thing standing in the way of true Regime change in Iran is the IRGC. Assuming that they do not wave the white flag within the next few days, that begs the question: SHOULD WE ARM THE IRANIAN PEOPLE? AND IF SO, HOW SHOULD THAT BE DONE?

IMO if the IRGC is still defiant and launching attacks a week from now the people should be armed. But how could that be done in the scale needed to take on the IRGC? We've already seen the IRGC has no problem mowing down the people in the streets or executing them. Giving the people weaponry to defend themselves as well as simple RPG style weapons to take out IRGC armored weaponry and tanks would be needed. With solid intelligence guiding the missions, It might be possible to arm them via air drop. What do you think?

.

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty" -- Often attributed to Thomas Jefferson, but true regardless of who said it.

They can arm themselves when the people convince enough of the army to join their side.
Unless that happens, I don't like the risks involved with randomly handing out weapons in an enemy country.

If we (or anyone else) arms them. . . There needs to be a way to distinguish "friendlies" from foes.

I'm guessing the CIA has been working on that for some time, maybe even years.

Even if armed, the Iranian people are not going to overthrow their establishment.

I am surprised folks are falling tor this CFR propaganda AGAIN.

Sure.
Whatever you say, quitter.

It never fails. Some people never learn. All it took was a new, charismatic "non-politician" (who happens to be an excellent salesperson) to bring the propaganda, and people fall for it yet again.

Folks on this site are on balance, disguising chicken hawks who thirst for blood.

They are no better than the folks they claim to hate.

Sadly, I think you're right about that. A big part of the problem is that they seem to genuinely believe the neverending propaganda...they haven't yet learned to kick their TV to the curb. Maybe it has to do with their age too....after decades of propaganda, maybe boomers no longer have the ability to have a paradigm shift, or admit they have been duped for so long? :dunno:

The key will be getting the IRGC to lay down their weapons. Otherwise, we will have to kill them.

Agreed.

America has been supplying the Ukrainians and Israelis with weapons for going on six years now.
We are running very low on ammo.

I learned that we can only produce 650 patriots a year.

Also, what I have heard is that currently Iran is using its last generation armaments to use up America and Israel's missile defense.

. . . after that, they plan to really unleash what they have.

After that? Our forces and Israel are doomed by this short sighted policy.

Personally, I think the best choice is to kill them, twice if necessary.

The only way to do that is send in ground forces.

We don't have enough ground forces to do that while also making good on our commitments all over the rest of the planet.

Sadly, you have not learned the difference between "regime change" (a la Bush) and leadership removal (a la Trump). The former was an attempt to impose a Western-style political system on an unreceptive population. The latter is removing criminal dictators and letting the people decide on their replacements.

The people will never be armed to the point of taking down the government because the government always has bigger guns. And more soldiers that know how to use them. No one wants Trump as a dictator because he cannot be trusted and lies thousands of times annually ........can we say 30,000 documented lies in his first four years plus who knows how many more while on a campaign trail ........... plus about 7500 more so far this term ( 30,000 divided by four = 7500).

The same goes for the United States.

I read your first two sentences and said "wow, that's a reasonable response from merrill! Then I read the rest and said "ah that's more like it".

Perhaps arming and training Iranians on RPG launchers could turn the tide. Along with semi automatics etc. Here's a good video on a new and improved RPG launcher. He lights it off at 10:45. Whooee don't stand behind the shooter!
