Since the day Trump was elected, I've been concerned he'd be so over-the-top that the Democratic Party's response would be over-the-top, too. Sure enough, that's what we've seen. And, predictably, ugly politics now pollute damn near every part of our society.
But I've also been hoping that just enough sanity would remain in the party that it would be able to see some boundaries. Maybe that's happening now, too:
Centrist Democrats rethink alliances as Biden crumbles
This madness has spawned the rise of nutters like AOC, Talib & Omar, not to mention this largely whacko crop of "presidential candidates", especially Bernie and Warren. Maybe the more pragmatic elements of the party still have enough influence to stop the freakin' madness.
Here's hoping.
From the linked piece:
“If Bernie ends up being one of these frontrunners, he’ll have to moderate. I’m not going socialist. Never been a socialist,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said. “If he doesn’t change, I’ve got a dilemma there. We’ll see. But we’re talking about hypotheticals. I think there’s going to be a lot happening between now and then.”
The soul-searching within the establishment wing of the Democratic Party comes after Sanders solidified his frontrunner status in Iowa and New Hampshire, which produced a pair of cringeworthy finishes for Biden. The former vice president did so poorly in New Hampshire that he ditched his own election night watch party to head to South Carolina, possibly giving an opening to Bloomberg, who skipped the first four contests.
“I’m feeling a momentum shift to Bloomberg right now,” said Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.), who endorsed Biden in the summer and plans to stick with him.
One of the most glaring examples of the change in tide on Capitol Hill is a trio of Bloomberg endorsements from the Congressional Black Caucus on Wednesday — a not-so-subtle show of force against Biden, who remains the favored candidate among black voters nationally.

The no-longer Democrat party (Socialist now), has been chugging along toward becoming Socialist for years now. Trump, definitely not the most presidential character we've had, saw what was happening and ran for office to stop it. The Democratic party of JFK, is long dead. If he were alive today and ran on his original policies, (example, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."), he would be rejected by his party as a Republican. The party today is: "Give us free everything and a large government that rules private business and peoples lives." The last I checked, that was the concept tossed at the gullible by the Marxist-Leninist Socialist party, which only takes and rules with an Iron fist.
Sanders has not hidden his past. He has on multiple occasions, praised Communist countries and claimed that, per him, "bread lines are a good thing, because no one goes hungry." I hate to burst his bubble, but people that lived under that type of government have said, regarding bread lines, "if you don't get there early enough, you go hungry."
Pay attention to what Bloomberg has said in the past regarding stop and search (and "throw them up against the wall") and housing. He says what you want to hear, even that he was wrong to have implemented stop and search; even though it went on for 12 years, without him changing his mind then.. He wants the presidency and will tell you what you want to hear to get the job. In watching him, the guy is a board-certified, Sociopath, possibly an anti-social personality disorder, which would put him in the layman category of a Psychopath. This in an individual, who if he could get the chance, would be a classic Authoritarian government leader.
The no-longer Democratic party, has drifted so far left, that its definitely on the path of becoming the Marxist-Leninist Socialist party.
The Republican party has drifted so far right that...well, I'm not quite sure where they fall, but at least they aren't Marxist-Leninist and want smaller government, not massive government control over our lives. I would like to see the Republican party slide back just a bit.
My favorite president was a Republican, Theodore Roosevelt. He strongly believed in the Constitution and each of its Amendments (which is more than the left does). He was also what one could say was, progressive. He created our National Parks and National Forests and actually tried to get Social Security implemented, but was thwarted by the Conservative Republicans. It took his successor to get that implemented.
When it comes to preserving our Constitution and considering what the left is doing, I will vote Republican on this and future votes.
