Is Newsome and the democrats responsible for the wild fires in California?

Its odd that you expect Trump to solve the problem that democrats created in Chicago, but i guess you CERTAINLY cant count on your side fixing anything. :dunno:

Trump litterally promissed that he has some guy who will fix Chicago's inner city problems for him, because supposedly Trump will "just let him do his job". He actually RAN on that bullshit in 2016.

Here is how REALITY worked out:

In the speech, Trump rattled off Chicago crime statistics and claimed that Johnson puts the needs of people living in the U.S. illegally above those of law-abiding residents of Chicago. “Those are his values and frankly those values to me are a disgrace,” Trump said. “I want Eddie Johnson to change his values and to change them fast.”

During the conference, Trump signed an executive order creating a presidential commission on law enforcement to study issues like substance abuse, homelessness and mental illness. The president also announced that the Justice Department will begin a “surge” to crack down on violent crime in the United States, targeting gang members and drug traffickers in high-crime areas.

Johnson, meanwhile, is under internal investigation after he was found sleeping in a city-owned vehicle earlier this month. Lightfoot said Johnson, who called for the investigation, told her he had “a couple of drinks with dinner” before he fell asleep at a stop sign while driving home. Johnson blamed the episode on a change in his blood pressure medication.

And thats how the clown show goes - laughable, ignorant statements and promises followed by incompetent winging-it, then messy reality and moving on to some other stream-of-consciousness clown show on something else Trump happens to have gotten into his ear.

What makes these fires different

Location: Wildfires are normally contained to Southern California’s dry hills. These fires have burned out of control and spread into the city, and two are the most destructive in Los Angeles’s history. The flames are visible for miles down the city’s famous coastline, a half-moon crescent of sand that is usually domed by blue sky. “I’ve lived here my whole life and never seen anything like this,” a 71-year-old resident said.
  • Extreme winds: Intense winds, known as Santa Anas, have spread these fires into the city. The winds also made it unsafe for aircraft to douse the flames from above, which slowed firefighting. Santa Anas are notorious for aiding California wildfires in the fall, after the landscape dries in the summer. But the impact is often less dramatic by winter, when the hills are more moist from rain. That hasn’t been true this year.
  • Dry conditions: It hasn’t rained much in Los Angeles for months. As a result, the fires spread more quickly across a dry landscape. Water supplies were also limited. Firefighters sprayed water faster than tanks could be refilled, and hydrants ran dry. Some residents stood and watched as their homes burned away. On Sunset Boulevard, one man fell to his knees and begged firefighters to save his house. Without water, they were helpless to stop the flames.

Why does Dotard feel the need to attack Dem's over this?

You've got it backwards.

Trump has a need to attack whoever doesn't kiss his ring, anything bad that happens is just an opportunity to do that.

Fires in this area is nothing new. In fact, I heard that Indians used to call it the land of smoke.

It is akin to people in Hawaii being surprised by lava flowing through their living room after building on top of a volcano.

That aside, the Mayor should then be asked:

1. Why was their no water in the fire hydrants? The condition are dry but not that dry. Water could have been provided but was not.

2. Why did the mayor suggest cutting the budget of the fire department more than it was? In fact, why was the budget of the fire department cut at all considering the topography and history of the area?

3. Why did the Mayor go to Gahna ahead of the weather service warning about the possibility of dangerous wildfires due to the weather predicted?

4. How does Mayor Bass given a free pass taking a trip to Gahna during the crisis after attacking Ted Cruz for leaving town during the Texas "Ice Crisis?"

It's okay, no homes burned in Ukraine. The people who matter are safe.

I guess Bass had previously been under fire for the increased crime in LA.

Bass was elected in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election, defeating billionaire real estate developer Rick Caruso, a fellow Democrat, with 43.1 percent of the vote against 36 percent. The mayor has since been criticized over levels of street crime, raising questions about her 2026 reelection hopes.

But as for the fire thingy, it appears they are trying to blame people under Bass for the lack of water to fight the fire, shocking, I know. I just wonder if they think blaming nameless "city authorities" is going to fly.

Bass had been in Ghana as part of a four-member U.S. presidential delegation attending the inauguration of new Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.

She has come under attack for not returning to the U.S. sooner in response to the infernos, with Caruso telling local network Fox 11 that there had been a "failure" of leadership and management adding that "everybody knew these winds were coming" so the risk should have been anticipated.

Caruso also questioned why brush in the hills surrounding Los Angeles hadn't been removed to reduce the fire risk and claimed a "reservoir was not refilled in time and in a timely manner to keep the hydrants going," which he blamed on city authorities.

Just saying....people are getting more and more frustrated with this. Change up. This is not a minor inconvenience. DEI and Progressive policies have destroyed people due to not knowing when to stop or use common sense.

Silly, where did I blame Chicago's problems on Trump?

I was pointing out Trump's stupid comments and promises about things he has barely a surface understanding of.

P.S. love the irony of you saying stupid nonsense....and then talking about how someone else is wasting people's time with stupidity.

Says the guy who is whining about Trump not fixing the democrat led, ultra violent, Chicago. :cuckoo:

...just wow.

I don't know how to explain to you a simple concept that what I'm rediculing is Trump's stupid, ignorant statements and promises.

Thats not on anyone but Trump himself.

Dummy I don't know how to explain to you a simple concept that what I'm rediculing is Trump's stupid, ignorant statements and promises.
Yes, and it was a dumb thing to do. Democrats absolutely WRECKED Chicago, and all you can do is talk about Trump. You lefties NEVER take accountability for your disastrous policies. :cuckoo:

I heard a climate scientist being interviewed on NPR say the fires result from a combination of factors. One being more moisture in the area over previous years leading to underbrush growth that has now dried out due to drought conditions. That, and the high, dry winds that come from the east at this time of year whereas the wind typically is cool and moist coming off the ocean.

As was the case during trump 1.0 we can expect more divisive finger pointing and threats to withhold federal assistance from the Prince of Petulance.

CA is a sanctuary state and spends like $50 billion every year on freebies for illegals. Money that could have been spent on fire preparedness.

Southern CA had record rainfall in 2024. There was no "drought condition".

The winds are the Santa Anas, which come from the south, not the east.

You should have stopped listening after you heard "climate scientist", because that means you're about to be lied to. You're just too dumb to realize it.

Yep, four more years of this 24/7 clown show.
“Clown show” you say?

Trump has a history of chastising California for their poor management of wildfires, most notably when he critiqued them for not maintaining their forests to clear debris from catching fire in 2019 and for not diverting more water from the north to the south, all to try and protect a very small fish called the "smelt".

View attachment 1063307

This fish is why the fire hydrants in burning California have no water.

Meanwhile, the mayor Karen Bass of the apocalyptic region decided to go to Gahna to celebrate the inauguration of their new President. Why a mayor of LA is doing this is unclear. Her departure coincided with the National Weather Service escalating warnings about the coming windstorm. But even when the mayor got news of the wildfires, she chose not to come home sooner.

But the mayor is also being questioned regarding depleting the fire department.

Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population.

For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion.

An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

From the 2023-2024 to the 2024-2025 budgets, the LAFD’s budget was reduced by over $17 million from $837,191,237 to $819,637,423.

Bass had proposed a larger budget cut to the LAFD, about $23 million, but it was not adopted.

Of course, it is California where the voters drink the cool aid any time a democrat demands they do.

So, nothing will change other than federal money continuing to fix the utter devastation in the region because of their ineptitude while they try to turn the rest of the nation into California. After all, only true democracy can be attained with one party rule, that is, rul of the democrat party.
It would make sense for states to mandate that homeowners and renters maintain sufficient insurance on their property or they take the loss in these fire instead of the taxpayers. Perhaps a bit of humanitarian aid would be appropriate and of course charities will step up to help, but certainly the irresponsible should not be a large burden on other Americans.

Newsom and California Democrats and sometimes the EPA are responsible for refusing to remove as much combustible materials as is reasonable around population centers and for refusing to allow homeowners to remove combustible material from their properties. And certainly all are responsible for compromising the water supply that is needed to put out fires without a contingency plan to replace that water.

Santa Ana winds are inevitable occurring on average 10 to 25 times every year and building codes should take that into consideration.
