We were energy independent. For the first time in 80 years we hadn't gotten involved in a new war somewhere. Sanctions against Iran were keeping the Mullahs cash poor and unable to finance terror. Putin wasn't invading neighbors. Three Arab nations signed peace accords with Israel.
