There is no political will to take over the government of Iran, nor to "nuke" them into oblivion, not that either should be done.
I look at it this way, there are times that arise that are necessary for war to help curb world powers from doing the maximum harm to humanity. It does not stop the evil in this world, but what it does do is help buy us some time until we have to fight again.
Unfortunately, the world will likely have to wait until Iran someday uses a WMD, at which point there will be some political will to totally annihilate any living thing within hundreds of miles of Iran. But how many must die to get there?

The regime has all the arms and guns, something that the Left wants for the US as well.
They are also trained.
