Why would I be afraid of gays? I never made a conscious decision. I may loath perversion, but I don't fear it.

It is as possible as a one month old newborn being able to decide they are gay.

As with other fears, fear is a learned response. Most of what we learn is learned by observation of our parents, and imitating their responses to things. If you grow up with homophobic parents, you'll learn that response to homosexuals. As with racism. Although, as I think of it, we do have a few 'inbuilt' fears from our ancestral primate days. Like of spiders and snakes.
