Since the heat index was only formed in 1978, there isn't much of a data record. It is also controversial. Canada has a different method of measuring it and label it Canadian humidex, not to be confused with the regular humidex.
Also, the record, figured thru US methods, is 172, recorded in 2003. A far cry from this recording.
