AWACs is a plane way up there with the best detection there is on God's Green Earth that can site a flying marble from a hundred miles away. The best the Iranians have is a F-14 or a Mig-29. It's like at MLB pitcher throwing a beach ball at Babe Ruth. If NBC news had claimed it snuck a ballistic missile or a drone flying low past our defenses and everything we shot at it all missed, I can see NBC's story.

And just putting that aside, the Iranians also destroyed dozens of U.S. aircraft and radar systems, causing billions of dollars in damage.
