It'll take years to build up manufacturing in the USA, to replace foreign manufacturing...jobs won't be here for quite a while if much at all for many industries, all the while we pay the higher tariff included in our retail prices, and at our lower wage jobs we hold for a few more years.Because it means jobs. For Americas
Why does mass deportation crush us?
You don't think there was been resistance to higher prices? Really?
And, since our labor cost is so much higher or with higher costs of benefits and employer payroll tax match of theirs, they will likely move to automation, to save money...or A/I.....
It's gonna be tricky to get them back here making goods, and sadly, for most goods, that will be automation imo.
---------
Mass deportation takes millions of consumers and workers out of the marketplace....people to buy the goods, and sell the goods and stock the goods and deliver the goods and provide services to others as well, will all need replacing by employers, causing a major disruption... Businesses all around will be left empty handed and have to find people to do the jobs of these workers, likely with an employee shortage where wages will have to rise to get people to work, if they can find them at all.... causing inflation, and a major drop in gross domestic product, making our debt to GDP ratio even higher and more unsustainable.... Economists estimate our GDP could be 7% points lower with mass deportation and that also means we take in much less in income taxes, to pay the bills.......
-------------
Not enough resistance to lower the prices...they are still making higher profits, even with slower unit sales, because the higher retail compensates their unit sales loss with higher retail sales dollars.
Basically, retail prices stay high, even if their costs have been reduced, unless the businesses are not making a profit.... the goal is to make as much profit as possible.... If sales slow so much with a higher retail, then the retailer has to take markdowns to stir sales... But if you are selling enough at the higher retail and still making a Profit, there is no need to lower the retail price.
