Frankly I think it should be a prerequisite for any state receiving federal funds. They should have a DOGE department that is detached from the local state government connections.
The inspectors general is a failed system. They become attached to the agencies they work with and start looking the other way and get to be on the take themselves. In some instances they become fore-warning agents to the people they're supposed to be investigating showing them how to avoid prosecution. Time to trash that system.
Hopefully this becomes contagious! Oh the horror! How terrible it would be not to waste money!
