The disaster began when Jack Smith decided to try the case in Florida. Others in DOJ disagreed vehemently disagreed with Jack Smith on this decision, because they were rightfully worried that the case could end up in front of the hopelessly corrupt MAGA judge Aileen Cannon. And that is what happened.

From the Washington Post --

Federal prosecutor David Raskin was expecting that the criminal case he had helped build against former president Donald Trump would be filed in Washington, D.C., when a colleague bumped into him with surprising news: Their boss, special counsel Jack Smith, had decided to bring the case in Florida.

“Are you all f---ing insane?” Raskin blurted out to his fellow prosecutor on that spring day in 2023, in a hallway at a Justice Department building in D.C.

Smith and his top deputies had concluded that trying the case in Florida put them on firmer legal ground, reducing the risk of the most serious charges being overturned on appeal. And members of their team had initially calculated that there was just a 1 in 6 chance that a case in Florida would land in Cannon’s courtroom.

“I’m not worried about Florida,” Smith said later when presenting his decision to Justice Department officials.

But the early calculation of the odds that Cannon would get the case — and Smith’s faith that the evidence could win her over even after she did — turned out to be wrong.

Raskin, who had been investigating Trump for keeping dozens of classified documents at his Palm Beach golf club, was alarmed by what he saw as a huge gamble. In Florida, the case could wind up before U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump-appointed jurist who had already temporarily blocked federal agents from reviewing sensitive records seized from Trump’s club during the investigation.

This behind-the-scenes account reveals new details about the inner workings of Smith’s highly secretive team as he pushed it to complete a historic investigation in record time, including the venue choice that led to the unraveling of the most clear-cut criminal charges that Trump faced. It lays bare previously unreported dissension on the Smith team over how to manage the classified documents investigation. And it recounts for the first time Smith’s effort to remove Cannon from the case, an idea that a top Justice Department official rejected and that Smith never presented to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Smith’s decision to bring the documents case in Florida, rooted in an extensive internal legal analysis, ran counter to what Raskin and others believed was the surer path to a conviction: charging Trump in D.C.

LOL, so Biden didn't get to load his cases like they did in NYC, eh? tsk, tsk, tsk. Cry me a river. This book is just more democrat propaganda.

Sit this one out. You just aren't smart enough to comment on any of this. You don't live in reality.

Sorry.
Stick to the topic or get off the thread. The topic is what you consider an 'interesting book,' that thinking people recognize as propaganda.

Jack Smith made the stupid decision to try the case in Florida so that Judge Cannon could destroy it. It had nothing to do with your moronic fantasies about Biden.

That's the reality, ******* simp.

They also blew the cases against Biden and Hillary.

Except this was a slam dunk case.

Trump had thousands of pages of classified documents that he refused to return to the government. This should have been an easy conviction for Jack Smith and DOJ.

When Cannon dismissed the case on the spurious grounds that Smith was somehow too independent from DOJ it was refiled in Miami-Dade county.

The problem wasn't filing in Florida, but specifically in Trumptard Cannon's jurisdiction. 1/6th chance my ass.

Jack Smith could have avoided this whole mess by just filing the case in Washington DC.

He underestimated how corrupt MAGA judges like Cannon are. Cannon succeeded in getting this case delayed until after the 2024 election. That was Trump's ultimate goal and Jack Smith should have been wiser than that.

Starting with Mueller, every witch hunt that did not go the lib loons way is due to an error by the body doing it.

This was no witch hunt. This was a slam dunk case against Trump.

All Trump had to do was return the classified documents to the government and he was too ******* stupid to even do that.

Except for the fact that the alleged crime happened in FL. That's why it wasn't done in DC.

LOL, so you think it would be better if they would have tried it under corrupt judges the vegetable appointed. Sure.

What I’d like to know is how was it that Cannon got the case every time…

It wasn't "alleged". It was an obvious crime.

Even if Trump accidently removed the documents, all he had to do was return them....and he was too ******* stupid to even do that.

Just more MAGA fucked-up fantasy world garbage.

Haul out your dictionary and look up the definition of 'alleged' Then you can spend some more of your useless time linking to a conviction or even a trial for the crimes that were ALLEGED.
Even if Trump accidently removed the documents,
Are you now using the same defense for Trump that Biden used for storing docs that he had no right to possess---let alone store insecurely in his garage next to his 'vette?
Just more MAGA fucked-up fantasy world garbage.
Another OFF TOPIC retort. You made the OP, stick to the topic or STFU.

No, shit-for-brains.

Biden cooperated with the FBI, that's why he wasn't charged. Trump was too ******* stupid to do that.

It is literally that simple....but too complicated for a hopeless MAGA simp like you to understand.

Another OFF TOPIC retort. You made the OP, stick to the topic or STFU.
It's not off-topic. You shamelessly lie and you don't care about facts. I wish you would just get the **** out of my thread.

Yes but but but those who could impose the slam dunk did not do so and are adults and you are not
