Ashli Babbit and her mob successfully breaches the House inner sanctum and the mob finds Mike Pence. What happens next?

I would surmise that Joe Biden is arrested by the Trump administration. He is declared an enemy of the people. Trump suspends the Constitution and declares himself the election winner and still President. Trump issues a proclamation that because of widespread fraud, he has suspended habeas corpus and ordered the mass arrest of his political “enemies.” The Country effectively becomes a police state.

So in your view, what happens next?

That sir, is a poorly composed plot to a cheap novel. The murders of Pence and Pelosi would not equate to an actual coup...our system is more robust than that. the Congress would repudiate Trump, impeach him, convict him and order his arrest in 2 hours. BTW..the succession of powers does not stop with the leader of the House--SOMEONE would be President--certainly not Trump though.

Real world...the shock and dismay of the American people at such heinous acts would lead to the wholesale ending of the illegal Govt., The military steps in and arrests Trump after his impeachment and conviction along with his accomplices. Biden is President.

Or...maybe it is IS a backdoor to a hypothetical conspiracy scenario? I think the move was warranted. While the Jan. 6 Capital riot was real..all the spin surrounding the event amounts to a plethora of conspiracy theories. Including the one that says that this was a viable attempt at toppling our govt.--when it really was not. The fact that a few wingnutz had stated goals does not in any way make the scenario any more plausible.

You previously gave a very plausible alternative scenario. This thread is simply a discussion of what would have occurred if the stated goals of the insurrectionists had been met. That is not a conspiracy theory.

Someone's goals were met, and it wasn't the protesters. You don't have to imagine what would happen, you can see it for yourself if you look. A Jan 6 Commission would compare favorably with the Warren Commission and the 911 Comission with greasing the skids for more centralized control. The WC eliminated any hint of government accounrability, and the 911 Comission resulted in the DHS and Patriot Act and untold surveillance and more eroding of the Constitution. This "investigation" will justify the purge of dissenters and legalize the persecution of percieved domestic terrorists, which is happening now, "rerrorist" being redefined as anyone who questions anything in the government.
