Nope. I noticed that happening BY DEMS and Libs much earlier than even Bush's 1st election win.

Hillary and Bill's unsuccessful health care push left Progressives with a harsh lesson. Next time the Dems tried to take control of the country through unscrupulous tactics (like intentionally giving government handouts which perpetuate poverty but help lock in the misguided loyalties of their voter base) the stakes would be the highest they could be. It would be for the sovereignty of the United States. The play would be for keeps and forever.

And with that came a take no prisoners attitude.

Dems felt they had to be meaner than they were and more nasty and underhanded.
