In the new world order should the world side with China against american aggression ?

Obviously its an easier calculation for some countries than for others. Im thinking all the poor far eastern countries and the poor african countries.
They will follow the money and put their nations first.

But what about the democratic nations of Europe ?

They are being punished for next to nothing. Who knows what nonsense that the US will come out with next. Nato is dead. The US is threatening Greenland and is at least an unstable partner.

Matbe closer relations with China is the answer. Its a huge growing market And it is on a par with the new US when it comes to democratic norms.
They arent telling us who to vote for either.

We should stand up for bullied countries.

Is Trump's trade war a power grab designed to trap Democrats?

Trump’s Trade War Is A Political Trap For Democrats

"Taken together, Trump’s approach is more a power grab than a trade policy — one forcing his erratic decisions on America without the affirmative consent of Congress.

"The strategy allows him to reprise his practice of preserving levies that hit political opponents while granting lucrative exemptions to reward big donors and powerful industries.

"The likely result: unnecessarily higher prices, industry-crippling retaliation, an uncertain policy environment that paralyzes investment, ever-more rampant corruption, and few enduring benefits for the domestic macroeconomy."

They'd be better off with the EU right now, the EU is far, far less aggressive

The US has twice the buying power of the entire EU. It is almost as if you guys don’t recognize just how much larger the US economy is than other countries. We are the golden goose. China wants no part of excluding us and neither do countries in the EU. There is a reason that China is the only country of significance to retaliate. The EU will negotiate because they have to for financial stability and military protection.

Definitely. But longer term China is a more stable partner than the US..
Britain has to learn to accept Russia as a peaceful ally first if it intends to side with the Brics alliance.

Britain's traditional hate for Russia is not going to change easily.

The hating is irrational in both the US and Britain, but Europe can and is doing it slowly.

Russia is successfully retaliating. Don't ignore them. US success in their proxy war against Russia is critical. The winner will dictate the world's future economic fortunes.

Taiwan could also play a part but for now at least the US is uncertain about outright aggression against China.

Not sure where you get your statistics from, but the US's GDP PPP (which means purchasing power) was $27.3 trillion in 2023 and the EU's was $27.1 trillion.

Hardly twice the buying power, is it?

Posted from phone. No idea what happened. Here is a response from an AI bot as of 2021. It may have increased somewhat, but it is still substantially lower.

As of recent data, the buying power of U.S. consumers compared to EU consumers can be illustrated through disposable income figures.

  1. Disposable Income: In 2021, the average disposable income per capita in the U.S. was approximately $54,000, while in the EU, it varied by country but averaged around $30,000 to $35,000. This suggests that U.S. consumers have about 50% to 80% more disposable income than the average EU consumer.
  2. Purchasing Power Parity (PPP): When adjusted for purchasing power parity, the differences can be more nuanced, but the U.S. still tends to have a higher overall purchasing power.
In summary, U.S. consumers generally have around 50% to 80% more buying power compared to the average EU consumer, depending on the specific countries and economic conditions considered.

I wrote my reply and by the time I'd clicked send, the forum was down. great.

However my post was something along the lines of: The EU has less income inequality, so Americans who have disposable income might have A LOT of disposable income, whereas many won't have. Whereas in the EU it'll be more evenly spread.

Though for war this doesn't matter, what matters is how much tax is being paid and how much of this goes to military matters.

Yes, the US spends more than on its military than the EU, but the EU has more military personnel.

It doesn’t matter if a few spend the money or a lot spend the money. The US consumer buys more than the EU by quite a bit. That is the bottom line.

The US middle class is smaller than the EU’s, but richer. The upper classes are bigger and richer. The upper lower class in the US is more comparable to the EU middle class. The lower class in the US is larger and poorer than the lower class in the EU. If you are in the lower middle class or above in the US, you are better off here than in the EU.

As for the military, technology and equipment wins wars now, not manpower. The EU has 25% more population than the US, so it stands to reason they may have more military personnel.

Not really sure why you think spending loads matters.

What wins wars? For the US it's having allies. Without allies the US wouldn't have invaded Iraq or Afghanistan.

Spending loads buys more equipment and more advanced equipment. That matters, in fact, it is the most important thing to have today.

The US has plenty of allies. Trump asking for fair trade didn’t make them all run to China. They don’t want anything to do with China controlling them. They aren’t as naive as many Americans to the pitfalls of Communism.

The US HAD loads of allies. It's pissed most of them off in recent months. I doubt the US would be able to invade anyone other than Canada and Mexico right now.
