I'm not so sure recess appointments are the end game.

Trump may have another avenue to try to bypass the Senate, experts say, one that dramatically departs from historical norms. Rather than wait for Congress to adjourn, as presidents have done, he could try to instruct them to leave for the sole purpose of installing his nominees without their consent.

Edward Whelan, a prominent conservative scholar, wrote in an op-ed published in The Washington Post on Thursday that he has heard the Trump team is considering using an obscure constitutional provision that gives the president the power to adjourn Congress if the House and the Senate cannot agree on the timing of an adjournment. No president has ever used that authority.

Whelan wrote that late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia, a strict constitutionalist, “would be aghast at the notion that a president could create an intrasession recess for the purpose of bypassing the Senate approval process for nominations.”

If Thune and Johnson refuse his recess demand I don't think he'll stop at anything to sideline Congress in order to ram his appointments through. It's the kind of thing autocrats do.

I hope I'm right when I say this..........trump is running the risk of pushing things too far in the eyes of some congressional Repubs who have thus far enabled his madness. It seems to me the Gaetz nomination has a few senators looking around asking, "we aren't really going along with this, right?" IOW, they are looking for strength in numbers. Making a political calculation about risking their future in the POT.
There has always been a strong never Trump contingent in the GOP and it is still there strong as ever. Thune might as well be a Democrat.

You are the embodiment of what liberals have been warning about. The turn to fascism.
LOL. Then you'd better leave because we voted in Hitler to come after you and it pleases me to no end. Please watch the following video and you will understand better:

President-elect Donald Trump is threatening to turn the Constitution’s appointment process for Cabinet officers on its head. If what I’m hearing through the conservative legal grapevine is correct, he might resort to a cockamamie scheme that would require House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) to play a critical role. Johnson can and should immediately put an end to this scheme.

The Senate’s power to approve or reject a president’s nominees for Cabinet positions is a fundamental feature of the Constitution’s system of checks and balances. As Alexander Hamilton explained in the Federalist Papers, that power “would tend greatly to prevent the appointment of unfit characters,” including those “who had no other merit than that … of possessing the necessary insignificance and pliancy to render them the obsequious instruments of [the president’s] pleasure.” Almost as if Hamilton were describing Matt Gaetz, Trump’s pick for attorney general.

To be sure, the Constitution also provides a backup provision that allows the president to make recess appointments — “to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate.” But as Hamilton put it, this “auxiliary method of appointment” is “nothing more than a supplement” to the “general mode of appointing officers of the United States” and is to used “in cases to which the general method was inadequate.”

However, for any vacant positions that exist during the 60-day period beginning on a transitional Presidential inauguration day, an acting officer may serve in the position for no longer than 300 days beginning on the inauguration day or the date of the vacancy, whichever is later.

I'm no legal expert and did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but it kinda sounds like trump came label the entire gang of idiots he's nominated "acting" and keep them on for about 10 months. Cuz I can't believe he thinks Gabbard, Gaetz, RFK, or Hegseth will survive a confirmation process when Senate Dems drill down on their lack of qualifications.
So give us the qualifications needed for these jobs.

Something more that Major for Sec of Defense. Staff College? High rank?

NOT being an antivaxxer for HHS. Maybe a medical background ?

NOT being investigated for sex trafficking for AG??

Great! Long live the Fuhrer! Thanks for posting. If I were you, I'd be getting out of the country before it's too late.

Ya know how they get " in the limelight"?

People like you cynically do that to outrage folks

Or they hire people in public positions that exhibit this behavior(see the Biden Administration and their DEI hires and appointments) or they allow biological males to take medals away from biological females in major sporting events or they hang they hang the rainbow flag between, as in the CENTER, of two American flags all at equal height on the White House in 2023. You know, just stuff like that. It matters and people should be outraged. The "normal" left, if there is such a thing anymore, should be outraged, but instead they turn a blind eye for fear of offending their far-left constituency. They are running the Democratic show. They call the shots in that party. That is the problem, but many Democrats still don't get it.

Has he even been to Staff College?

Or is he as qualified as a Pvt 1st Class?
Wow, somebody thinks he has a winning argument here. Let's not tell him.

I'm not going anywhere. A piece of shit like trump isn't going to cause me to leave my country. I choose to stay and work to take the country back before his attempts at authoritarian governance take hold.

How are you going to take the country back? On day one Trump is going to declare himself dictator for life and eliminate elections.

It appears you don't know what authoritarian governance is.

Trump and those he's nominated are a gang of idiots.
What does it say about Dembots that a "gang of idiots" got a mandate from the American people last week? You guys really must suck to lose

Sounds like you probably spent the night at motel 3 with that analysis.

Most American voters just showed they’re not interested in the silly political games between the Blues and Reds. They really just want to know if Trump can actually solve their problems. Biden, the Democrats and the liberal media totally dropped the ball. That’s why Trump snagged the White House again. :)

Well let’s see how that works

I think Trump will be a disaster . At best status quo
