A dental practice in Sheffield has said it cannot afford to treat all of its NHS patients unless it secures extra funding.

Since 2022, Darnall Dental Clinic has taken on an additional 4,000 people, but after losing an NHS subsidy, is now unable to offer the same level of service.

Staff said they have suffered verbal abuse from patients who can no longer get an appointment.

Dr Vasileios Orliaklis from the surgery said: "Our practice, which has already invested £466,000 into expanding the premises, is now facing an extra loss of £544,000 in funding. It's truly maddening."


Good old Labour pulling NHS dental funding on the practice. Next they're probably replace it with PFI money. Labour, same ole same. I wonder how they'll try to spin this onto Thatcher

I've just paid private all my adult life, never had a problem finding a dentist whatsoever. NHS dentist just means they subsidise various dental procedures/treatmentsto reduce the cost for the patient. I've never bothered with that.

I want my taxes to pay that's what civilized Countries do, even now many can't afford to pay or get an NHS dentist, they are pulling their own teeth our with pliers, GB 2025.

The little you pay in tax won't cover their cost. I suggest in a civilised country they get a job. What's the chances some can't "afford" things but have a mobile phone contract, smoke, drink, buy a McDonalds etc.. Due to Labour's cuts, more will be using pliers!!
