It's a totally unworkable solution to a problem that doesn't exist and they know it.
It would make ammunition incredibly expensive, which is exactly what they want. If they can't stomp on the Second Amendment hard enough to totally destroy it, by God, they'll try to make ammo too expensive to buy and use.

Courts have already ruled elsewhere that this is akin to gun control and violates the 2nd Amendment.

In July 2025, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that California’s mandatory background checks for ammunition purchases violate the Second Amendment. The court found these regulations, which caused high rejection rates for legal owners, unconstitutional under the Supreme Court's Bruen standard. Additionally, courts have recently ruled against state-level bans on high-capacity magazines. ​

1. Cases get recycled. A lot. That makes me criminally suspect.

2. It increases the prices extravagantly. Few ammo suppliers will do this. Its confiscatory and an end run around the 2nd Amendment.

3. I need to see where its even technically feasible.
