"Vehicular homicide is a crime that involves the death of a person other than the driver as a result of either criminally negligent or murderous operation of a motor vehicle. In cases of criminal negligence, the defendant is commonly charged with unintentional vehicular manslaughter."

In Florida, a foreign national in the country illegally carelessly operating a motor vehicle, ramming into the back of a van, killing 4 US citizens, is charged with 'Careless Driving' and is held on a Visa violation, NOT charged with Vehicular homicide' or 'vehicular manslaughter'.

"An illegal alien was cited with a ticket for “careless driving” after he rear-ended a van and nearly killed an entire family spanning three generations near Disney in Florida.

The driver of a truck that killed a mother, two of her children and the grandmother was in the US illegally, according to authorities.

Two other children, their father and grandfather who were also in the minivan survived.

But after killing 4 people, Lucas Dos Reis Laurindo was only cited with a ticket, the strongest charge that could be made under Florida law.

He is currently being held in custody on a visa violation."

Is it common for people in the United States to be charged with vehicular manslaughter in traffic accidents?

Reading this story written by a barely educated liberal journalist I was left with many questions

how long has the illegal alien been in America?

Is he using fake documents or stolen IDs to obtain a job?

Is he alone or with a family and are they illegal also?

He should be detained with no bail until he and his entire family are deported

and ALL their assets confiscated

I could not find any information of any wrongdoing by the driver of the vehicle, other than being in the country illegally, with which he is being held.

Slamming into the back of their van, sending the vehicle rolling, resulting in the death of 4 family members .... is what you call 'finding no wrongdoing by the driver of the vehicle'?

Seriously...?

That is what myself, and everybody but you apparently, would call an accident.

according to your OP Fla law does not allow for a stronger charge, his illegal status does not affect that.

Those are your 1st questions?

How about:
- Why wasn't he charged with 'vehicular manslaughter'?
- Why is he being held ONLY on a Visa violation?
- Does he have a record of previous crimes / deportations?
- Is the area in which this happened considered part of a 'Sanctuary City / State'?
- Where is the signed Congressional Bill allowing US citizens to sue Sanctuary cities / states?

I was in prison with a guy who was in for Involuntary Vehicular Manslaughter.

So, yes it happens.

seems it is a large hurdle in Fla....But after killing 4 people, Lucas Dos Reis Laurindo was only cited with a ticket, the strongest charge that could be made under Florida law.

If inebriated or texting...yes.

His whole family should be picked up and deported
Anybody who is not in the country legally should be deported.

Those are good questions too

I wish we could examine this guy in detail
