If Trump wins the popular vote, but Harris wins the rust belt, the republican party will lead in abolishing the electoral college before the 2028 election.

The red republican states will lead the way just as fast as they attacked trans people these past 2 years if the likelyhood stated above happens!

The popular vote should be what elects presidents anyways and is the way it is done in most presidential republics.

Trump is not going to win the popular vote.

They probably would, but the EC benefits the Republicans massively.

The Reps have won the popular vote ONCE since 1990. They've had two presidents and most of the Supreme Court picks. The Dems have had three presidents.

He may win the popular vote, but he's not going to lose the electoral college.

Good luck with that, they won’t have the votes.

We can expect to see more of this:

Republican draws criticism for call to bypass election in North Carolina

Now that victory is imminent, they're not even trying to hide it any more.

I cab;t speak for anyother town, But 3:00 PM on Friday there were hundreds in my part of town that were voting early and from the looks of it, the majority of voters were voting Republican.

You are a nutcase.

It will take 38 States to abolish the electoral college.

That ain't happening.
No, it wont. The structure will remain but it will elect the president by popular vote.

The path to getting rid of the EC is not a constitutional change and it is not the rout that states have been taking. Instead, if enough states decide through power over their own elections to award their respective EC votes to the winner of the national popular vote rather than the popular vote of that individual state then the EC will exist in name but will not have any actual meaning anymore.

Like it or not, this is exactly the rout those against the EC have taken and they are 70% of the way there. That last 30% is going to be very hard to get but if they do, the EC will remain but the popular vote will decide the actual winner.

You are talking about the National Popular Vote Compact, and that will have to be tested in court if they try it.

I am not convinced the SCOTUS will accept a State assigning it's EV's based on the voters in some other States. That is a State disenfranchising their own voters.

The US does not have a national election. We have 50 State elections on the same day. There is no national standard for how an election is held, and attempting to make the popular vote the method of choosing the President and Vice President would create chaos.

Hopefully not. Because that would be a very bad statement relative to the attitude in America in 2024.
To talk primal or like kids do. "You started it". If it were to occur. That would be a leap for Republicans though.
