He has no comprehension of why it is inappropriate to celebrate religious holidays in schools because he is an idiot. I doubt very much that he would enjoy having his son or daughter take part in a Muslim, Jewish or other religious holiday in a public school. If he can't understand that it has nothing to do with being offended and more with the sacredness of the faith than he is a fucking idiot. There are many places including the public sphere where religion plays a major role and will continue to do so but this does not mean that we should become a fundamentalist state like in Muslim and Jewish countries where religious freedom (i.e., people can practice whatever religion they want while there is an official state religion). There are an equal number of conservatives who don't want their children taught the faith of these right wing religious psycho's who are nothing more than the American version of al-Qaeda and Muslim extremists.

You mean like they can opt out in Muslim countries where the state religion is Islam and where everyone is free to practice their religion alongside the state religion of Islam? It is one thing to say that people can opt out of something and another for them to actually be able to do it. How would you suggest that they opt out? By not coming to school jackass? Because that is the only option left to them while those who want to practice their faith can do it in almost every place. The amount of freedom that a person enjoys to practice their as they see fit is so great that they don't need to put others in a place of having to leave school, wear earplugs or simply not take part in what is by right a public education.

Simple, let the parents decide by "freedom to choose their school" aka "school choice" which school, religous or not, their kids go to. The Publication of the yearbook couldnt happen because some kids will not make the competition and have their feelings hurt, simply because they were born without the natural talent for writing or taking pictures, no fault of their own. All extra curiccular activities would have to cease, as a matter of fact, because they all favor the talented over those born without the talent.
And all competitions within the classroom would have to cease, such as when I was in second grade we had a book reading competition.
ANd in actuallity, even grading or teaching the kids would have to cease, after all, it favors the children who were born with a higher IQ.
