If boosting domestic manufacturing is a goal of the current regime, why..............

When trump puts a tariff on imported products because the importing country puts tariffs on US goods first, the resulting trade war is not trump’s fault

Trump puts tariffs on imported products for no reason whatsoever. Neither Canada nor Mexico have tariffs on US goods. Trump has given a variety of reasons for hitting your largest trading partners with tariffs and, like all of Trump's excuses, as soon as one excuse is debunked, he has a new one.

Trump is tearing up all of the trade agreements he negotiated the last time he was in office, and driving away future investment because he cannot be trusted to negotiate in good faith.

How can you be against "reciprocal tariffs"? We match their tariffs. If they don't want US tariffs, then drop theirs.
Because it leads to a trade war, isolation and higher prices.

It seems that the goal is to increase prices to increase US manufacturing. From a national security perspective this isn’t a bad thing. From a destruction of wealth perspective it is a bad thing.

I’m a free market guy. Government intervention in markets is decidedly not a free market.

1. higher prices only happen if tariffs are not lowered
2. true, the goal is to increase domestic production
3. not sure why there is a destruction of wealth if US production increases, the added cost goes to Federal revenue
4. free markets imply no tariffs

He’s no rocket scientist and proves it on a daily basis.
He proves you wrong every day.
His companies are amazing
His rockets are amazing, he just rescued people from the space station.
His dedication and sacrifices, in money and time, to save the US from financial ruin deserves respect.

You don’t understand how inflation destroys wealth?

Your post #45 was about tariffs, not inflation.
Agreed that inflation destroys wealth. Biden's 9% destroyed $trillions.

Tariffs cause inflation only if the manufacturers don't eat the tariffs and prices spiral upward.
If prices are too high people don't buy, they wait. Tariff effects are hard to predict.

The consequence of tariffs is inflation of prices.

Incorrect. Prices increase artificially because of tariffs. You should be expecting higher prices. That is literally how they intend to make manufacturing in the US more profitable.

If what you say happens, then they will have failed at creating more manufacturing jobs in the US which is the point of tariffs in the first place.

I’m not so sure. Chinese and SpaceX rockets are both blowing up and we know where a lot of Walmart and Trump merch comes from!
SpaceX successfully launched a rocket holding 4 astronauts yesterday

True. If manufacturers eat the tariffs, then prices stay the same, but those tariffs increase Federal revenue, so they would be a net positive.

This isn't going to work for aluminum ... domestic sources for virgin material have to comply with US environmental rules which makes our aluminum more than the added 25% than some foreign produced ... countries that dump their toxins into their rivers and oceans ... like China ...

"But corporations will just lower earnings and dividends ... they're not passing the added cost on to consumers" ... HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW ... "tariffs aren't inflationary" ... stop please you're killing me ...

Keep up the Good Work friend ...

HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW ...

"manufacturers eat the tariffs" ... that might be illegal under fiduciary laws ...
