I have too many males to pick from.

Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys (deceased)
James Otto
Billy Joe Royal (deceased)
Daryl Hall of the Hall & Oates duo

God bless you and James and Daryl always!!!

Holly (forever wishing that I had discovered Steve and Billy Joe sooner)

P.S. Steve and Billy Joe most definitely didn't get the recognition that they deserved.

The artists you've listed may have been good in the genre of music they played, but they are not soul music. James Brown has always been considered 'King of Soul'

James Brown is known as both the godfather of soul and as the king of soul.
None of the ones you listed do soul music they're Pop and Country.

Here's classic James Brown.

I was thinking Elvis was pretty soulful and he was The King, so is Elvis the King of Kings?

And even though Michael Jackson, in a PR move, named himself The King of Pop, I’ve always thought Elton John deserves that title.

Although, with an astounding 33 hits, Billy Joel could make a strong claim.

Madonna, of course, is the Queen of Pop. I believe only Mariah Carey can compete.
