Things aren't 'anonymous'. they are just assigned a storyline by whoever is announcing it. If there was an emp burst 100 miles over NY there's no way you in your home would know who set it off. You would know that nothing works, and be told this and that, but that's it. It's all based on faith and confidence in the system, just like our currency and government.
