IDF begins ground operation in southern Lebanon, attacks Hezbollah terror targets

IDF soldiers entered southern Lebanon as part of a ground assault on Monday night while the conflict with Hezbollah continued to escalate increasingly, Israel's military confirmed the operation during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"The IDF began limited, localized, and targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon," Israel's military said.

It added that the IDF will be carrying out "a methodical plan set out by the General Staff and the Northern Command, which soldiers have trained and prepared for in recent months."

Arabic media such as Al-Jazeera and MTV Lebanon claimed that IDF tanks had entered multiple villages in southern Lebanon shortly after initial reports of the ground invasion.

"This is what they have informed us that they are currently conducting, which are limited operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure near the border," US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said to the press on Monday, according to AFP.

The confirmed invasion will be the first IDF ground operation in Lebanon since the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

Additionally, the IDF Spokesperson in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, warned residents of Beirut suburbs to evacuate on Monday night.

Since Israel has also committed to blockading Lebanon against arms shipments from Iran, and has already turned back one Iranian airplane, this operation may lead all the way to Tehran.

IDF has identified the enemy and is going after them in Lebanon. Much like America went after Osama B. Ladin in Pakistan and Pancho Villa in Mexico.

Since Hamas and the Hezbos are an existential threat to the Jews, its a more than reasonable course of action.

ALL innocent people deserve to live in peace and with respect. That includes people in Israel and people in Palestinian territories.
All terrorists should be eliminated, including Hamas, Hezbos, Putin, etc. What Hamas did Oct 7 is completely inexcusable, and they need to be fully destroyed, but IDF's extreme collateral damage & killing thousands of INNOCENT people in Gaza is also inexcusable.
Once the terrorists are eliminated, peaceful Palestinians deserve their own state and a seat in the UN, and Israel needs to provide reparations in Gaza, like Russia (rich oligarchs) in Ukraine after Putin's wealth is depleted.

Successful & fair diplomacy requires a WIN-WIN outcome, and you will never see that if PEACEFUL Palestinians don't get their own INDEPENDENT nation. PK1, I suspect that you have been affluent all of your life. If this is true, you do not understand that life is a struggle for scarce resources. The Israelis and the Palestinians do not only hate each other, they are playing a zero sum game, in which each can only benefit if the other side gets less or nothing. I am not affluent & never have been. However, I am "comfortable" financially after working 35+ years AND doing lots of saving. My curiosity about people and their cultures led me to travel frequently (cheap hotels, etc), and I have visited more than 40 nations across 6 continents.

I certainly do understand that I am EXTREMELY lucky to be a USA citizen in a (formerly) stable economic & political environment; luckier than 95% of the world's population. I prefer to see ethics & fairness where possible, and ALL "innocent" people deserve respect & fairness. Therefore, I would like to see ALL a-hole terrorists & harmful narcissists ELIMINATED so that more innocent people can enjoy life better.
