I wish I was a Jew

Never had a slice of ham in my life, and I could well live without it. Although I do admit the smell of bacon on Sunday mornings from the neighboring apartment years ago was good. But I settle in for my bagel and lox - or bagel and whitefish salad, even better - and I am one happy Yid! :)
Precisely.

I can't imagine the torture it must have been, being married to someone and having his own kid and wife eat bacon for fifteen years. . . oye!

Why is it you people can’t eat pork and pork products?

That is awesome. I had no idea. I thought that only women could convert by marrying a Jew. So if want to look into this I should probably contact a local Temple and sit down with someone to talk about Judaism, and what I am looking for, and so forth?
Absolutely. Where do you live?

Maybe as a start you can sit in on some Torah classes…I’m sure a rabbi could guide you. I’m not familiar with the exact process.

Or…..do you near me? I am going to a big Chanukah Party tomorrow night, and it will be great fun. First we light the candles, with the blessings, sing some songs, and then….the eats! Big Chanukah- style buffet, and NO gefilte fish.

I live in the deep South (GA). There are a couple of Temples here near me.

So he survived the ham.
Ahhhhh. . . I noticed, I did NOT comment on it. That would be rude.

In Catholic families, you know what to talk about, and when to keep your mouth shut. My dad might have said something had he noticed, he loves to stir the pot. . .

The fact that they are raising their daughter in both traditions, is sort of a sore spot for both the grandparents, obviously.
They had a devil of a time finding a holy man to marry them. No Rabbi would do it, and no Catholic Priest that was still in good standing with a diocese could get permission, also - obviously. So, they had to resort to a former Catholic Priest that resigned to get married himself, that had a license to marry people.

. . but they want their daughter to be exposed to BOTH traditions, and make her own decision.

I am not sure she wants to decide, I haven't heard anything. . . I'm not a big gossip person.

Actually, I’ve sat with people who ate unkosher stuff, and it grossed me out. Clams and crabs…..yuck! And walking by the lobster cage at the grocery store…..creepy!

But bacon seems enjoyable, although I’ll never know. I have other pleasures.

So you’re a bigot. Do you make fun of people in general? Or just people affiliated with a religion?
No no, just very religious people. Or to be more precise, I don't respect em intellectually.

Lobsters are relatives of cockroaches.

There’s turkey bacon, btw.

Are you aware that there are three branches - Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox - that vary in their degree of observance? I’d go to a rabbi that “matches up” with the branch you think would suit you best.

I myself was raised Conservative, but in recent years, as the Conservative and Reform Jews became more adamant in their “liberaliness,” I’ve moved more toward the Orthodox end. They are mostly Republican, and it’s a better fit for me npw.

When I was a kid I hung around with a couple dudes in the neighborhood. One was a Jewish kid who was adopted by Jewish parents. The dad was cool. He was into guns and would shoot any motherfucker who threatened his family. He liked me because I was a good shot with a BB gun. This, probably more than anything, socialized me to Jews and their community. Later on in life, I had a Jew friend. Later on, his wife died and he moved back north. I would take him fishing with me. He was a good guy too, a former Chicago cop. It was during my friendship with him that I learned that Jew food sucks ass. He discovered his love for fried chicken.

I am going to confess that I am not a religious person, at all. But I think, if I suddenly had an epiphany and became religious, how would I worship. I have much respect for the Roman Catholic church (except for the pedo stuff) and Judaism because they are disciplined religions. They have standards and rigorous disciplines. Any old jack-off can be a preacher in a protestant sect. The Episcopal Church is just a gay, leftist version of the RCC. Islam will not even be considered because I am not a fucking ignorant psycho.

However, I do not think that I, a male not born a Jew, am eligible to convert to Judaism. That leaves me out of the religion. Roman Catholicism, when I have been to their services, always creeps me out with all the Latin signing and effeminate men wearing gowns. If I was going to partake in any organized religion, it would have to be Judaism. But since I cannot be a Jew, I have to be a non-religious person.

Jews have been disproportionately persecuted since the dawn of time. It is easy to see why. They are more intelligent than most and place a high value on education. They are family oriented, and the value of education is reinforced in the familial structure. Further, the are prosperous as a people. This pisses a lot of people off and is the root of much anti-Semitism. Hell, look at Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights. If those swarthy Arabs who disingenuously call themselves "Palestinians" had money and pussy, then they would have no reason to be so pissed off all the time. They would pick up and move from that God forsaken land and come to America or some other civilized country that would have them.

That's all this really boils down to with the freaking "Palestinians": money and pussy. It is the key to men. But, there is more. They need to follow the example of the Jews and create a value system that promotes education. For even with a bunch of pussy and money, without and education all you can ever be is a dumb camel jockey. You end of with a class of Arab asshole like we see in Saudi Arabia where they still subjugate women to men. That is not how a civilized culture works. That is fucking Fred Flintstone shit. Hell, its even worse. Even Wilma Flintstone had a limit she would take of Fred's shit.

Jews, more than any other group of humans, are successful because they promote values that make people successful. This is why they are to be admired.
Evolution.

Jewish people couldn’t own land for centuries in Europe but they could run a business. Plus they were well educated because of their religion. For example Jews could read well. The link explains much. …

Too bad. My dad was a religious man, and he had an “ almost Ph.d“ in a STEM field. He taught science classes at the community college one night a week after his workday, and he tutored high school kids in advanced math. He was invited to give speeches on his scientific developments both here in the states and well as Europe.

I am positive he was much smarter than you. You have some very prejudicial attitudes toward practicing Jews (and others).

A lobster is delicious. Turkey bacon is something, but it ain't bacon
Yeah, and I just can't imagine going to a Sushi restaurant and having the restrictions that Jews have. .. the insanity of that?

Nuts.
