Once they have green cards why would they continue to work on farms for less than minimum wage and no benefits?

The only reason illegals work for less is because they are illegal. If we 'look the other way just this once' then, sooner or later those folks will be demanding higher wages. Slave labor wages and cheap produce can only happen if the workers are illegal.

It's better to shut down the border and let the economy does what it does best, level the playing field. Slave wages are not good for the economy because, in the end, that policy leads to suppressed wages for everyone.
